Superintendent’s Message

Dear Parents, Residents, and AU Members of the Greater Malverne School Community,

It's hard to believe, but we are already closing in on the end of our 3rd marking period. To date, our students have continued to excel in their class work with more than 50% achieving honor roll status. The members of our graduating class of 2019 have been elated to receive "good news" admission notices from select colleges and universities. The interscholastic athletic teams have experienced much success in both increased membership and team performances. The two major productions of "The Wizard of Oz" and the Malverne High School's rendition of "The Little Mermaid" were cited as the "Best Ever" in reviews from packed audiences.

On the horizon for the next few months, our students and teachers are vigorously preparing for mastery of final exams in Advanced Placement courses, NYS Regents and local subject finals. Please check the district calendar and website posts for many special events at each of our schools. We are extremely proud that Malverne High School received a visit from the State Education Department educational research team. MHS was the only high school on Long Island selected for a site visit for making a substantial difference in higher academic achievement despite wealth, racial or ethnicity factors. After devoting the good part of a week to classroom observations, interviews of students, parents, teachers and administrators, the researchers told us that they were extremely impressed with the entire learning process, cultural norms and academic outcomes from our students, teachers and staff. Once the SED reviews the researchers' observations and recommendations, it is very possible that we will be invited to present our "Success Formula" as a model for other NYS schools to replicate.

Our 2019-20 Budget Vote is May 21, 2019. Residents will receive the traditional Budget Information "Pride" issue in early May. Please come out and VOTE.
